There was a dark alley that cut across a long row of buildings and would save him a great amount of time getting back on to the main street. He entered the entrance of the alley and began to make his way through. He walked hurriedly, trying to avoid any mishaps. He heard a clang behind him, and nearly jumped out of his skin. He turned and saw nothing. He walked faster, his heart hammering in his chest. Just as he saw the light at the end of the alley, he felt a tremendous impact against his right side.
