But now, as he sat alone in the diner, he had never felt so alone. He looked down at his tail and remembered Alkina, how she held him and coddled him. He remembered his mother and her tender love. He attempted to dry the tears and finished his coffee. He left the waitress a tip, thanked her once more and hurried out of the diner since the rain had slowed down. He splashed through deep puddles, the ripples shining under the streetlights. It seemed dead. Not a soul was out in the streets now. Another crack of thunder sounded, and lightning flashed just ahead of him. He felt the rain start to drizzle again.
“Shit.” He muttered and pulled his hoodie on. He tried to think of the quickest way to get back to the motel.
