Raven Guard Devastator Centurions by Iridium

Raven Guard Devastator Centurions

Iridium

"Cannons armed, grav-amps primed. Traitors spotted, slay the heretics."

Finally! I've been working on these guys for a long time, months. I'd tinker on them, then do nothing for weeks, tinker, than nothing, on and on. Finally I've gotten the gumption to finish them in the last two weeks. It helped that a commission of Dark Angels (including a character who can take a Power Field Generator to protect these guys) just came in. Having been on the receiving end of the grav-cannon fire these guys can put out, I am looking forward to unleashing it on my opponents!

(If you're wondering about the yellow border on the right shoulder pauldron, from what I have learned, the Raven Guard aren't completely codex-compliant: devastator marines have yellow borders, tactical marines have green, and assault marines have red.)

Seriously dig those lenses. It's also neat to see these guys in black, and hear a little about their adventures on the battlefield. I might need to pick up a squad for my Iron Hands, after all!

Thanks! The grav-cannon is a really good piece of wargear. I have had them knock out ork battlewagons, popped one a turn, with ease. They eat anything with a good armor save, MEQs, TEQs, it's all the same. Nomnomnom. They are also surprisingly good at taking out vehicles, since every Immobilize after the first will take an extra hull point. I highly recommend them, though they are pricey both from a money and points perspective.

I've had the idea of picking them up for a while, and there's a small 'hobby budget' set aside for purchases like this - it's just always been a real ho-hum about what to arm them with. If the grav-cannons come recommended, then I'll give them a shot, see how they perform. I'd actually completely forgotten the fact that those hull points would still be stripped off, and in 7th Edition it seems like anything which can reliably pick those little scabs off is going to be a blessing. Thanks for the heads up!

I am delighted to see Warhammer stuff around here. Good job, my dearest stranger, you have made my day!

Awww, thanks! And you're welcome. One of these days I'll get motivated to do more modeling and painting. Some day...!
