so last night as I was lying in bed, my devious little brain got to thinking about Bruce a little bit. A few days ago I’d brainstormed some traits for him and some of the ones I came up with were “Has a reputation for being a brawler despite being a fairly gentle guy”, “occasional dope smoker” and “doesn’t like to drink” and I was trying to justify mentally how those two things would come to be, and then one thing lead to another and I figure he uses his reputation to hide the fact that his boozer dad tends to beat on him (his dad served in the Korean War and came back a changed man). Bruce refuses to drink because of what he’s seen it do to his father, and he smokes marijuana to help cope with the semi-constant pain he’s in.

Figures I’d craft a horribly tragic backstory for Bruce (but I promise it ends happily, as will be seen in a future comic chapter. Also, said chapter will have an appropriate trigger-warning page at the start of it so anyone who’s tender on the subject of parental abuse can avoid the chapter if they want to)
