Wade is one of my buddies, and I always truly have cared for him, yet somehow we just don’t see each other a lot. So we have a distant friendship, and while that’s tough, there is nothing negative about him in my eyes. He is a wonderful Orca and a great friend; he even makes for a wonderful Predator. I’m grateful for all the times he has wanted me inside his stomach. We do not have a lot of art together and I had made the decision to change that, Wade had been feeling down and I wanted to show him of all the friends who liked him. I remember I was streaming the creation of this drawing, and I had the whim idea of including the sonas of all the friends who were present in the stream.

Now this picture holds a lot of significance to me, I was sitting in my bed drawing this up thinking about the close friendships I had with each of the guys present in this drawing; when I learned that a very close friend and former classmate of mine had passed away, losing his battle with a very rare and aggressive Cancer. He was only 18.

I remember all of that moment so clearly, I told everyone in the stream I had to go, and then I just sat there in silence, going over the very last time I ever saw him alive. It had been emotional and completely clear there was going to be no recovering; he was almost no longer himself, just a shade of who he used to be and I had accepted that he was going to die, though the actual confirmation that he was gone was a lot bigger a feeling than I had expected. Somehow I put my emotions aside because I wanted to get this drawing done because I knew that I would forever think of my friend every time I looked at it, and it had to be complete. So I finished it, alone.

I kept the final image to myself though, and finally feel like I am able to share it with you guys. It’s been 10 years, and I still think about and miss my friend. He was a great guy with so much potential and skill, his loss was very shattering.
