I wanted to make a well defined and illustrated painting for the AA fantasy contest.

I used a level of environmental experience to really capture the mood and atmosphere of the painting, this is actually a great improvement since my last painting.
Even though I intended for the creature to have a different color palette I decided to keep the original palette and just add some small body color features like the fluorescent blue with a little purple on the shoulder blades, ears and around the face.

The background worked quite well for me this time. The foliage and the terrain along with the cloudy sky and rain worked smoothly together when I added a mist to create a mellowed rainstorm effect.

Unfortunately my experience with ruins are not as well structured as I'd hope for but there's still potential with great practice and I definitely learned a lot from painting this, so there's still opportunity in the future to recreate this with better results.

But without a doubt I am very happy with this.

I love how this came out. I think you did pretty good with the ruins myself, and the way the trees are in the bottom left makes it look like strong winds are blowing, add the wonderful job you did with the water running off the focal and the ominous clouds, it becomes clear he's in a fierce storm. His expression seems to say "leave me alone" which many would want when consumed by grief or regret.

      ... P-Precisely... Lol
I've never been on Weasyl for so long... I almost missed your positive feedback, so enriching.
But honestly I had to be critical with myself, it's how I progress and straiten up, becoming much more able to excel in my work. But I think I mention this before somewhere that I'm a very persitant person with my work even in the weaker areas of both my artistic and academic work.
Even if I'm using a such a mediocre drawing device and program, but the best part about the human race, what we achieve using little or nothing at all, we create endless possibilities.
      Always advancing,
      Adapting,
      Enhancing...
