This is a character that has been in need of some art for a long time.

This is Rook, a bat character I had for quite a few years now.
He is a demon bat that was enslaved by Zeleme in Dys, but he managed to escape with the others during the first rebellion along with Geminii and Bahamut.
During his time in captivity, Rook took a fair bit of punishment, including having his wings completely tattered and destroyed so he could never fly again. Despite this, Rook is probably one of the most happy, if not oddball, creatures to escape from Dys. He always seem to be cheerful and optimistic about everything and is willing to be goofy in order to have fun.

Rook is fairly large, I think I made him to be around 7 feet tall or so. Due to his nature and from his torture in the past, he has one of the strongest resistances and endurance of anyone; it would seem like he could stand up to a tornado. He even seems to keep his temper better than most of the others; getting him angry is very difficult, but when he does...better watch out.

Rook has a great relationship with Geminii and Bahamut, but perhaps one that he has the most love for is his ‘nephew’ Gene.
Rook somehow found his way to the Northern areas and found Lawine taking care of her son, and Rook ended up sticking around to help her along, forming a bond with him.
However, since he knew of Gene’s mixed heritage, he never stuck around for as long as he really wanted in order to protect the two, even after Lawine’s death. He care a lot about Gene and he knows that he really can’t get in the way of Gene’s own dreams and goals.

I’m happy with how this turned out, though Rook is meant to be a bit bulkier to show off his size. Still, his initial design looks really good; based off some old doodles I did a long time ago, and it’s nice to give this guy an actual appearance finally.
