I decided to wok on the sketch of the unknown sailor character that I sketched up earlier. My main goal was to try and figure out a good color scheme for him, and I think this works rather well.

He still doesn't have a name though. I'm very tempted to run with Finnegan, but I'm not sure yet. I am open to ideas.

I would say he was a hybrid, but honestly I don't think he is, I think he's just a race of his own. Aside from having fur and scales, he also has prehensile feet and a prehensile tail and normally he would have claws, but I think because of his status he was de-clawed.

The character I can see was a slave from a far-off land, but because of a disaster of some kind he is picked up by a sailing ship that hails from the mainland. Not knowing where he is, the character stays with the ship's crew and serves on the ship on whatever is asked of him.
Things take on a strange twist as the ship is overtaken by a violent storm and he and the survivors are picked up by something they never imagined; an airship called the Arvanche.
