I finished a profile page for Pearl the Panther. So far she sounds more like an Archie comic fan character than an IDW Publishing comic fan character but that is because I only know more about that universe compared to IDW's. I think she would try to befriend Tangle the Lemur though. We'll have to see.
EDIT: I have changed my story for a bit and Zomom and Zazz's roles in Pearl's story have swapped, mainly because it is easier to write for Zazz than it is for Zomom (for various reasons) and I honestly realized I didn't have a lot to work with for Zomom. It would mostly be just Zeena, Zor, and eating. Zazz would have added something different I feel, so I hope no one is surprised that this is an outdated profile I shared.

Thanks! And I figured they would want to do that while still making a name for themselves. I considered Zavok's role in Sonic Forces when writing Pearl's new backstory.

I know after the Penders fiasco at Archie—Sega likes to have a lot more direction on the comics now. So it would be my guess the IDW book is set in the “Sonic Forces” world—it made me happy to see Knuckles, most of all! :D

I think IDW's universe is set in the world of the "Sonic Forces" game--I haven't played that game, so I'm not 100% certain--but Sega really likes for the comic to promote their most current game on the market. :)
