Hexadoodle

I love the Planet B cast. I still go back and read the comics sometimes. It got me to thinking how similar they are to the new set of animal characters I've scraped together. I'm pretty happy that the whole bunch of them are distinct enough that I was able to make a whole batch of fusions of them, but even happier at what the Planet B cast has matured into.

Hexaditidom -> Bartimaeus. Superintelligent space entity to bluebird oaf. But both are ambitious with a passionate creative streak, and they do everything they do to glorify themselves. Relative to their abilities, they don't do much of good consequence.

Slook -> Hexadoodle was an obvious one. Once dumb animals, but then gifted with intelligence, they are both childlike and full of energy and curiosity, learning at a rapid rate. Unstoppable forces of joy. :D

RZ -> Rainfly. Both have a special ability, but RZ is so paralyzed by fear and worries that he never uses his to its full potential. Rainfly is proud of his powers, seeking to help, and not afraid to take risks. But like RZ, Rainfly still carries an intense internal pressure to perform well, and can sometimes get down when he makes mistakes. I prefer that kind of spirit to RZ's. Rainfly's is still a relatable timidity, but not a life-hampering one.

I'm most pleased with the development from Furato -> Wildcard. Both are fun and like to play a good trick, and both are well acquainted with the gambling world, but with much different stories: Furato is a bad gambler with no sense when to stop, while Wildcard grew up in the environment and used everything he knew to stay alive, which worked in him a sharp street-wisdom. It's that wisdom and maturity that I would love to explore with Wildcard. Immaturity like Furato's is funny in small doses, but I find it really obnoxious to be around all the time.

All this has made me wonder if a comic starring the new animals would work. Bartimaeus unfortunately wouldn't fit in very well, being likely from another time period and with no special abilities except for the magic hat. The other three, though, could make a nice informal superteam. They've all got arms! Though they might run into competition with the other talking animals with multiple arms hero team.
