Playing with different styles

GuineaPigDan

I like drawing my characters in other styles sometimes, just to break away from how I usually draw them and try something different. A breakdown of these sketches:

TOP LEFT- I think this was an attempt at trying to make Domino look like a rodent from The Secret of NIHM, trying to improve on my previous Don Bluth style drawing of him. https://www.weasyl.com/~guineapigdan/submissions/2144152/don-bluth-style-sketches-1-3 I dunno how Bluth would draw a guinea pig! Maybe I should ask him sometime. He will be at SacAnime in September sooooo...

TOP CENTER AND TOP RIGHT- I'll soon be posting some Walt Kelly (the creator of the comic strip Pogo) style drawings of my full cast. For Domino and Tyler, I ended up doing two versions of them. I was referencing canine characters in Pogo for Tyler and rodent characters like mice for Domino (particularly one story called "Mouse into Elephant" from the strangely titled 1966 "Pogo Poop Book"). I dunno if this really matches Kelly's style at all but I think they're still interesting, making Tyler look a bit scruffier on his face and Domino's face being more cutesy than he is usually.

BOTTOM LEFT- I think this sketch might have been practice for my Nomura style drawing of Domino as a Kingdom Hearts character. https://www.weasyl.com/~guineapigdan/submissions/2296886/furry-keyblade-partners-in-nomura-style-sketch I couldn't find any good looking rodent style characters in Final Fantasy to use as a reference, so I also looked at some Red Wall illustrations and photos of guinea pigs with masks over their eyes for inspiration. Giving Domino a less cartoony rodent nose I thought would be more fitting for making him a fantasy character rather than his normal toony style.

BOTTOM CENTER AND BOTTOM RIGHT- I don't remember what style Domino and Peter are supposed to be here! Disney? Warner Bros? Whatever it was, I decided to make Peter shorter and more toony so he'd be closer to Domino's height.
