Class and Job system of Alerfa by Guei-Girl

The Class System

The Class system is a type of alignment that a person goes through in the Realms of Alerfa. There are seven different type of categories in the class system: Magic classes, Summoner classes, Attack classes, Hybrid classes, Male only classes, Female only classes, and Specialty classes.

In order to become a class, you must present yourself to the Mirror of Truth. With some classes, you need a certain item to unlock it. You can change classes if you like. However, there is a catch to this: You cannot change classes until you mastered the one you picked for yourself. If you change classes without mastering your original class that you picked, everything about that previous class will be forgotten and you have to re-learn everything all over again.

Each class has its ups and downs, pros and cons. Some classes are not for everyone and could be dangerous to those who mishandle their abilities. So when picking a class, pick wisely!

Magic classes:

Illusionist

Illusionists are the masters of shape-shifting. Even your typical non-shape shifting race can master this class with caution and care. Depending on what form they can take, Illusionists can be either very powerful or very weak. But no matter what the situation is, this class could come in handy in tight situations and unpredictable scenarios.

Magus

An amateur caster of offensive magic, the Magus is a sorcerer who knows how to manipulate the eight elements of magic. Since they are beginners at offensive magic casting, regular Magi are not as experienced as Arch Magi nor Grand Magi.

Arch Magus

An offensive spell caster who is aligned with light. The Arch Magus is more powerful in light elemental spells than they are dark elemental spells. So if you are going up against fiends of darkness, the Arch Magi will be wonderful companions on your quest.

Grand Magus

An offensive spell caster who is aligned with darkness. The Grand Magus is more powerful with darkness elemental spells than they are with light elemental spells. They are also experienced at causing ailments to fiends with their powerful magic. If you are going up against fiends of light, or if you want to cause ill to your foes, the Grand Magus will be the companion for you.

Cleric

An amateur caster of defensive magic, the Cleric is a sorcerer with the power of healing. Since they are beginners at healing magic, the Cleric is not as experienced as a High Priest nor a Sage.

High Priest

A more advanced version of the Cleric, the High Priest knows a wider selection of healing and defensive magic. High Priests can also purify poisonous environments with their magic. They also use a wider range of light elemental spells. A High Priest is a force to reckon with.

However, if a High Priest were to go a darkened path, they will either evolve into Devil Shamans or Necromancers.

Sage

Sages are quite a hardy class of healers. Though their powers are not as strong as their Bishop counterparts, it comes pretty close. Sages also have the power of exorcism and can make trinkets and other holy items to help purify the soul.

Pictomancer

As the name implies, Pictomancers are sorcerers that can manipulate their artistic abilities and bring their artwork to life. In order to do so, they need enchanted arts and craft supplies to carry out their magical abilities.

Pictomancers are famously known to be creators of Golems, as well as bringing statues and artwork to life. A handy ability a Pictomancer has is the ability to seal their enemies within a painting or drawing, thus, putting their enemy in a state of suspended animation and dormancy. The only way an enemy could get free from the painting or drawing is to destroy the art media to set the creature free.

Ah yes, the Pictomancer class is indeed a unique class and is usually a class mastered by artists and craftsmen alike. Evolved Pictomancers become Puppet Masters, using not just arts and crafts, but the power to control their enemy like a puppet, as well as bringing toys and dolls to life.

Geomancer

Geomancers are sorcerers that have the power to manipulate the surrounding environment to aid them on their journeys. For example, if a Geomancer is in a snowy winter setting, the Geomancer could summon snow storms or sub zero spells. If the Geomancer is in a desert setting, they can summon sand storms, intense heat spells, and swarms of desert life. Or if the Geomancer is in the mountains, they could summon avalanches, giant boulders and healing beams of light. The Geomancer is quite a unique class of sorcerer, but like any other magic based class, it should be used wisely and with a lot of caution.

Summoning classes:

Evoker

The Evoker is your typical summoning class and is an offshoot of the Magus classes. The Evoker can summon the elemental beings of earth, fire, air, water, metal and wood. Evokers cannot summon beings of the light nor dark elements. They also cannot summon undead beings either.

Evokers, like every other summoning class, must learn to bond with certain elemental creatures in order to master their summoning abilities. Once that is done and out of the way, the Evokers could be a force to reckon with.

Bishop

The Bishop class is an offshoot of the High Priest class. Like the High Priest and Sage classes, the Bishop is a defensive magic class, mastering in the powers of healing and purification. Unlike the High Priest or the Sage class, Bishops can summon Angels, the elemental beings of light.

The Bishops of Alerfa are different from what you might expect. Like the Bishops of the human world, the Bishops of other clans are associated with the holy element. Unlike the Bishops of the human world, the Bishops of other clans can marry and have kids. The opposite of the Bishop class is the Devil Shaman, which is the class of darkness that can summon demons and other elemental beings of darkness.

Devil Shaman

The Devil Shamans are the darkened versions of the High Priest classes. The Devil Shamans can heal others, but their purification skills are gone and are replaced with skills of darkness. Like their name implies, the Devil shamans can summon demons, the elemental beings of darkness, as well as using spells of the dark arts.

Despite the name, not all Devil Shamans are evil. Some can use their powers of darkness to help out others to thwart their enemies. Despite the fact of good Devil Shamans exist, this class is still considered a fearsome summoning class and must be handled with care. This class is not for everyone, as demons could be rebellious and independent beings with minds of their own. Only responsible summoners should consider being Devil Shamans.

Necromancer

Like the Devil Shamans, Necromancers are the darkened versions of the High Priest classes. Unlike Devil Shamans, Necromancers could summon the undead, such as vampires, ghosts and ghouls to do their bidding.

Only responsible people should become necromancers, or they will be either corrupt by the undead, or turn into an undead themselves. This class is probably even more dangerous than the Devil Shamans, since Necromancers have been known to sacrifice their mortality to master the dark arts. This class is for experienced and sane summoners only.

Attack classes:

Martial artist

Martial artists are the masters of fist fights and using bare strength to take down an enemy. Weapons of choice with martial artists are nunchaku, claws, metal knuckles, or even their bare hands and feed. If trained enough, Martial Artists will grow to be Black Belts.

Black belt

Black belts are an advanced version of a Martial Artist who went through series of training and discipline for many years. Black belts are the master of disciplined strength and agility. Black belts use both their brawn and brains to take down their foes.

Black belts are quite a well rounded class indeed, but it's not a class for those who rely on brute strength alone. It's for people with clear minds and focus.

Dual blade knight

Dual blade knights are the masters of wielding two weapons at once. However, they cannot use shields like the other knight classes. But using two swords and parrying makes up for the lack of shields.

Being a dual blade is not for everyone. You also have to strong and dexterous enough to use two weapons at once. This is for experienced weapon wielders only.

Samurai

Samurai are knights that fight with honor. They are like a hybrid of your typical knight combined with a ninja class. They can use swords as well as toss knives, daggers and shurikens. If trained long enough, they evolve into Shogun.

Shogun

A more advanced version of the Samurai class. Shogun are the masters of speed, dexterity and wits. And like the dual blade knight, Shoguns can equip two weapons at once, which the Samurai cannot do. They can also use cards and coins as tossing weapons.

Thief

Thieves are the masters of treasure hunting. They can pick locks on both doors and treasure. They can also create traps as well. There is a reason why thieves are feared in the worlds of Alerfa.

Bandit

A higher classed version of the Thief. Bandits are more advanced at pickpocketing and treasure hunting. They can even forge notes and make them look like the original writer wrote them. They even have the knowledge to create hideouts and build secret passages. Bandits are definitely a class not to mess with.

Ninja

A warrior skilled at Ninjitsu, Ninjas are quick, agile and can take down an enemy without being seen. The class originated with some of the Yokai, who taught the Japanese this deadly art of assassination and stealth. It apparently spread throughout the realms. Two higher classes include the Kunoichi and Night Blade.

Kunoichi

A higher class of Ninja. The Kunoichi are even more fatal than your typical Ninja. They are even known to use poisonous weapons or weapons infused with one of the eight magical elements in the realms. They are fearsome, but not as fearsome as the Night Blades.

Night Blade

The ultimate Ninja class. It combines both Ninja classes and Thief classes in one package. You would not want to run into a Night Blade in the dark, or even the light for that matter. But if one Nightblade is on your side, you might consider yourself lucky, since it is the deadliest of all ninja and thief class.

Lancer

As the name implies, Lancers are the experts at using spears, poles and lances. Lancers have the ability to jump high into the air and spear their foes from above. If that lancer is also magically inclined as well as physically inclined, they can evolve into Sun Lancers or Lunar Lancers.

Hybrid classes:

Magic Knight

The Magic Knight is a hybrid class that uses black magic to power up a weapon of his/her choice. Once a weapon is blessed with a certain element (eg. Fire, Water, Metal, etc), the weapon becomes even more powerful than before. However, the effects are only temporary, ranging from short lived to long lasting.

Runic Knight

The Runic Knight is a white magic off shoot of the Magic knight. Instead of using magic enhanced weapons for offense, they use it for defense as well. But the ultimate power a Runic Knight has is to absorb magical and spiritual abilities of their foes to heal the Runic Knight and his/her allies.

Beast Master

The Beast Masters are the ones who can communicate with plants and animals. Sometimes, they even use said plants and animals to help do their bidding. Beast Masters also make wonderful hunters and gatherers, with the weapons of choice either being bows and arrows, or guns and ammo. Evolves into the Ranger over time.

Ranger

An offshoot of the Beast Master, Rangers are even more hardy and powerful. Not only could they communicate with animals and plants, but can also use bows, arrows or guns with magical elemental properties. A force to be reckoned with indeed.

Paladin

A more evolved version of the Runic Knight, the Paladin is the ultimate warrior of light. Not only can they absorb the abilities of their foes, they also know a good amount of healing magic to boot. To top things off, they can use light elemental magic on their weapons of choice to give their weapon the power of holiness.

Dark Knight

The more evolved version of the Magic Knight, the Dark Knight is the complete opposite of the Paladin. As the Paladins are warriors of light and holiness, Dark Knights are knights of darkness and offense magic. Not only can they use the six other elements on weapons, they can use dark magic on weapons, as well as use a few black magic attacks. Dark Knights are feared and revered for this very reason.

Sun Lancer

Sun Lancers are magically inclined Lancers that lean towards the light element. They are a combination between a typical Lancer and a Paladin.

Lunar Lancer

Lunar Lancers are magically inclined Lancers that lean towards the dark element. They are a combination between a typical Lancer and a Dark Knight.

Chemist

A chemist is quite a unique type of class. They brew potions, elixirs, tonics, tinctures and salves to either aid their allies or to strike down their foes. Chemists have also been known to mix and match different brews to make the perfect healing elixir, or the deadliest magical salve. All it takes is some ingredients found within the many worlds of Alerfa to make things work.

Alchemist:

An advanced offshoot of the Chemist class, the alchemist can do even more things than the chemist can. They can brew more potent tonics and tinctures than the Chemist, plus, Alchemists have the knowledge to create the Elixir of Life, which can extend a creature's life.

However there are a couple catches: the Elixir of Life does not grant immortality, just long life and prolonged youth. And only certain people have access to it. This is done to protect the Elixir from falling into the wrong hands and being used for selfish needs.

Male only classes:

Berserker

A class of pure brute strength, Berserkers are warriors that are feared by many. They rely on pure strength and rage to battle their foes. However, Berserkers cannot use magic nor guard. A more calmer, level headed version of this class is the Heavy Armor Knight.

Heavy Armor Knight

Heavy Armor Knights are a much more calmer version of Berserkers that can use magical abilities alongside their raw strength. They may lack in speed, but they make up for it with their strength and magic. Weapons of choices are axes, two hand swords, two handed axes and sledge hammers.

Minstrel

Also known as Bards, Minstrels are a male class of musical fighters. They use enchanted musical instruments and their magical voices are said to help out their allies or inflict harm on their enemies. They are also known to be great storytellers as well. The female version of this class are Song Maidens.

Female only classes:

Song Maiden

Song Maidens are basically the female version of Minstrels, only they have the extra bonus of using magical dance moves alongside their storytelling, singing and use of magical instruments. Paired with Minstrels, the Song Maidens are a force to reckon with.

Enchantress

Enchantresses are women who use the powers of charms and seduction to manipulate the enemy into serving them. The Enchantress is like a strange combination of the Devil Shaman and Illusionist, only that they don't always need demonic help into manipulating their foes. Preferred weapons and magical items of choice are enchanted pipes, bongs and hookahs filled with magical incense, tobacco or hashish. Sometimes, they use enchanted alcohol to get their way with their fiends. Yes indeed, these ladies are very unpredictable and cunning. Always wear charms or relics to protect yourself from their powers of seduction.

Light Armor Knight

Light Armor Knights are a female class skilled in magic and weapon play. They are like the Magic Knight, Lancer and Magus classes all rolled into one package. Though they aren't as physically strong as their male counterparts, the Heavy Armor Knights, they make up for it in agility and intelligence. Weapons of choice include poles, halberds, swords, rapiers and lances.

Specialty classes:

Royalty

Royalty is a unique sort of class. Royalty is like the jack of all trades when it comes to abilities.

However, there is a catch: You cannot choose to be royalty. You either have to be born into royalty, marry into royalty, or earn the trust, respect and blessing of either a member of royalty/god of that creature's race.

So yes, the Royalty class is probably the most complex of all classes, and cannot be earned using the Mirror of Truth. But to those blessed with royalty or godhood, it could be a force to reckon with, no matter what situation the royal is in.

Royal Retainer

Royal retainers are races of any sort of class blessed by the Mirror of Truth, but there is one big difference: They are now on the side of the royal family/god race family, and are three times more powerful than an average race of any type of class. It is considered to be quite lucky to be a Royal Retainer. However, you have to earn the trust, respect and blessing of the royal family before becoming one.
