Mist Elmbarn was once an average raven vanir of the Samjok-o raven clan that lived in a faraway village located in Vanaheim. When it was time for her to come of age, the village chief gave her a golden cicada as the first step to transformation. Mist, being too eager for her own good, flew far away from Vanaheim, with the cicada in her upper claws. Right after she ate the golden cicada, Mist went through a painful transformation, and was left stark naked, along with having temporary amnesia. She was discovered by Ve and Eir, who took her into Walhalla kingdom located in Asgard, and was adopted by Odinn and Frigga. She was faithful to her guardians, and was overjoyed to learn that Eir vowed to become the raven Valkyrie's sworn sister.

But she started to lose faith in Odinn and Frigga, when Doll Grethe was recruited as a Valkyrie. Doll was a hot headed and vengeful woman, hellbent on getting revenge on the royal family of Niflheim. Mist got to learn that not all Devil Gods are evil after she and Eir rescued some prisoners from Odinn's brig behind his back. One prisoner she rescued was a Devil God named Amirani, who happened to be a Prince of Helheim and one of Hel's seven sons. Prince Amirani was grateful of Mist rescuing him and invited her to Helheim, where he can get to know her better.

After a while, Amirani and Mist started to feel emotionally attached to one another, since they had many things in common personality wise. Both are planning to rebel against the corrupt gods, as well as to protect their homelands and souls of the deceased.

But one day, Odinn and Frygga learned that Mist freed the Helheim prisoners and was sneaking into Helheim to see Prince Amirani. Stricken with panic, Mist beckoned Amirani and his brothers to freeze her inside Mithrite (a magical lapis-like alloy), putting her body in suspended animation. So Amirani and his family agreed, and froze the Valkyrie in Mithrite.

Years after the Twilight of the Gods took place, Mist was re-awakened by Queen Hel and King Bullar. After Mist recovered from her temporary blindness and lack of dexterity, Queen Hel told the Valkyrie that Balder and Nana are now in charge of the kingdom of Walhalla, and are far more suitable rulers than Odinn or Frigga. Over joyed, Mist went back to Esageard and was willing to serve the new rulers of Walhalla.

It was when she she recruited Empress Tala and promoted her to Valkyrie status, Mist's life would be change forever.
