"For anyone who has ever lost a beloved companion, know that they are safe and waiting for you to come get them"

Commission done in memory of a pet who has passed onto the next life. I wanted to convey the theme of ceaseless love and motherly care. I also took references from the Pieta - Mary holding Christ after his crucifixion, and of course references from the statues of Bast that can be found in your local metaphysics shop.

As I was working on this, my mind kept thinking of other themes such as "bosom" and "hymns sung by creole women". I hope none of this is offensive sounding, but there is something about the way Bast seems to be humming to the creature in her arms that makes me feel a connection to the soothing love sung by a mother of African decent.
