Desperation

I don't know what to do,

when all I want to be is close.

This feeling is drowning me beneath these sheets,

I can't help but look away from you;

when these tears keep falling down my cheeks.

Maybe this was meant to be,

but I guess things change....

I walk in strides,

to try to get you off my mind,

I'll travel to enjoy the nature,

that I forget to enjoy,

and take for granted each day.

The sky turns a crimson shade of read,

I listen to time go by.

I remember how you always made me feel so amazing,

and I cry when I think of your smile,

it shone through the empty darkness,

brightening my day.

When I would look up,

you would always be there,

and I would know that everything would be alright.

Until that fateful day when I found myself lost,

Deep within the shadows,

falling for what felt like forever,

reaching out to find you,

but never moving from my place.

When I hit the ground the air escapes me,

and everything goes dark,

this must have been how it felt,

when you got hit by that intoxicated driver.

But then I wake up,

covered in a cold sweat,

surprised I find you laying beside me,

sighing happily,

it was only a dream...
