FHL Game of the Week #7: Totem Paws @ Killer Bees

FHL

Tonight Game of the Week is a fight to clinch, as each team has a key item very much in reach.

Fortunes have changed as the season went one in Salt Lake City, after a bit of a rocky start, the Killer Bees found themselves a bit behind the 8-ball and trailing an early surging Seattle for the Division. By mid season however, the times had turned as their star goalie Raz Yoshi and the rest of the team have set themselves into high gear, and are riding a 10 game winning streak. As part of that, the Killer Bees sit #1 in the FHL and with a win, will secure this year's Commissioners Cup!

For the Totem Paws it has been a season of improvement. After falling out of the playoffs with a season ending 9-game skid, Victoria looked to improve their team in the draft. With the aquirements of Kinta O'Connor and Qaja Kebauet among others, the Totem Paws were able to do just that, and have glided along this year got the most part keeping a tight grip on the second Wildcard spot. With the struggles of some other teams in the Conference, the Totem Paws find themselves a single point away from clinching the second and final Playoff Spot in the west.

Will the the Bees' Clinch the Commissioner's? Or will the Totem Paws lock up their playoff bid?

The first period started with strong momentum for Victoria, as they scored an opening goal Etienne St. Claire, with the help of Kebauet and Coutzy. Late in the first, Skyler Ward was called for tripping, and the Totem Paws cashed in on it off the stick of Totem Paws forward Brodie Hampton, giving Victoria a two goal lead. Rex Wilson would later respond to put Salt Lake City down only by one, but Victoria ended the first with the one goal lead.

As the second period rolled, the Killer Bees turned the tide. Late in the period, the first line grouping of Rex Wilson, Akamai Ikaika and Brute Belonzyk teamed up to score the tieing goal off Brute Belonzyk's stick, and in the third, the line teams up agian, as Akamai is able to sneak the game winning goal past Lord Pichupal, winning the game for the Killer Bees, and clinching the Commissioner's Cup!
