FHL Season 4 Game of the Week #3: Beothuks @ Stampeders by FHL

FHL Season 4 Game of the Week #3: Beothuks @ Stampeders

FHL

For the Omaha Stampeders, it has been a up an down year. Leading the division at the start of the season, it looked like Omaha was very much in position for a return to the playoffs, with the team having good goal-tending to backup what looked early as excellent defense. That goal-tending however, can only hold so well with an offence that has been a bit flat this year and has lead to the Stampeders trailing the league in Goals Scored. However this has not stopped the Stampeders from keeping strong, and find themselves only two points trailing Victoria out of the fourth and final playoff sport in what has been a very competitive Western conference.

For the Newfoundland Beothuks, it has been a season of improvement. With improvements in play at goal tending, and the resurgence in power of Haydenpup and Backdraft Wolf, the Beothuks find themselves several points ahead of everyone else in the division, and only three points behind the Hamilton Wanderers for the Conference(who they bested in overtime on Monday).

And so the two teams enter the game Friday each looking to gain on others. Will it be one more step closer to the Conference lead for the Beothuks, or will Omaha make a stronger grasp at a return to the playoffs?

FOURTH PERIOD: http://bit.ly/S4GOTW3

It is a wild first period between the Beothuks and the Stampeders, as 5 goals are scored and 14 penalty minutes are recorded. The period largely ends up in Omahas favor, as 2 goals by Ivan Tasanvich, and goals by Rabten Sengdroma and Sandy Brushtail put the Stampeders head 4 to 1. The period also ends on a rough note as right before the horn Lyah and Sean Wulf drop the gloves and come to blows, each ending up sitting out the starting of the second period.

In the second, Caleb Lloyd would put the icing on the cake, as he puts Omaha up by 4, and the stampeders carry the lead to the end for the win. the final score: Stampeders 5, Beothuks 2

GAME STAR OF THE NIGHT: Ivan Tasanvich (2 Goals)
