MY first time doing a digital painting that was only environment. It was a nice exercise and a fun commission for a local friend. What story does the forest whisper to you?

You did a nice job on this. As far as stories the picture tells me; I think of a tribe that once lived near that river. But for some reason left or something had happened and they had to go. I get this story because of the crate of some sort that's left in wreckage in the rivers stream. Also because of these interesting simple markers takes from old dead trees that were polished a little bit and then stuck into the rocks. Where they jut out from the side of the small stream as it goes down its course.

I enjoy this. Though there's some confusion as the leaves furthest away from me on the left side are seemingly detailed but the leaves that are at the closest to me at the upper-middle of the picture are watery and kind of clayed together. Still I like this so. The over-lapping layers of leaves from the branches of the trees on the left side complimented by the morning-midday mist are appeasing to my eyes. That and the detail of the rocks along the course, and the dirt along the trail that leads to the deer. Also some of the small environmental pieces there as well. Like bits of trees and a small rock and a small indented stone. That large rock (on the path where the deer is) needs to be shaded a little harder so it looks like it has a more firm weight on the land rather than something that can melt and wash away with the tide of water.

Also if there was more detail on the little piece of caved-in land where the water flows into and the roots from nearby wildlife dangle. It'd make the illusion of depth that much more convincing rather than seeming like clay that was soaked in water and just by simply touching it, that it'd indent it and by moving your finger down it'd softly slide off or roll off with the creamy residue on your finger tips.

Anywho, I like this. Nice one.

I think I see that "clayed look" you described more as light distortion coming in from the "God rays" that Felix threw in there. I feel like I see similar distortion on the right side of the image as I do the left with specific beams of light.

I feel like it could use a little more detail though, still. It also helps with depth perception.

I really dig this. This work combined with what you did with the mountain ranges in another image of yours makes me think you really ought to be doing some more of these landscapes. When I saw the reflection you added into the stream of the scenery surrounding it I knew this was something I truly loved. This is just brimming with detail from the needles on the coniferous trees to the change in visibility with the draw distance. This is truly an awe-inspiring work that you should feel very proud to display.

Getting comments like these really helps me appreciate what I do a little more. I really do like hearing other peoples thoughts about what I do, but I really don't get too very often at all. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on even just a few things in my gallery. Thank you!
