For those who left home on behalf of others,

To those who returned, those who have lost,

To those who remained alive only in whisper and memory,

From times past to times now,

Those still fighting, those still recovering.

We honor you and your memories on this day so that the past may never be forgotten so that we may learn for what may come in the future.

We will remember you.

This years image is because it is easy to forget not all who fought, aided and rescued and still do in conflict walk on two legs. A medal was created for them, the Dickin Medal which is the highest award an animal can be given which was created in this country. While not all animals present in this image have one, I wanted to pay tribute to some of the amazing feats they all produced whether rewarded or not.

They are Juliana (Great Dane, Blue Cross medal), Simon (Cat, Dickin medal, Blue Cross medal), Warrior (Thoroughbred, no medal), Jet of Iada (German Shepard, Dickin Medal, RSPCA medal for Valor), Rip (Mongrel, Dickin Medal, Blue Cross medal), Judy (Pointer, Dickin Medal). The Pigeons are William of Orange (Dickin Medal, sitting on Warrior's neck), G.I. Joe (Dickin Medal, sitting on Judy's shoulder), Commando (Dickin Medal, sitting on Juliana's head) and Mary of Exeter (Dickin Medal, peering around on Jet of Iada's leg),
