I got new colored pencils recently and I wanted to practice with them so I whipped out this quick piece for FlyingFire, who is a dear friend and who inspires me with her colored pencil work, and whose rainbow dragon Breogh is excellent subject matter for colored pencils. As I said this was quick, and I didn't have a sharpener so I was racing each pencil to lay down as much color as I could before it ran out of lead, and on top of that this is my first colored pencil piece in at least 3 or 4 years, so it's pretty rough. I'm not entirely happy with it, but practice is practice, and I've just got to keep at it if I want to get better or even just get back to where I used to be. If you don't keep using a skill it degrades and that's definitely happened here.
Anyway, here's Breogh. The scanner ate her colors a bit; there's more variation IRL, but you get the general idea.
