I recently got a tablet and this is my first start to finish attempt in using it.
It's pretty clear I'm going to need a lot more practice as I'm still exploring the various ... everything. Trying out programs and this was done in Autodesk Sketchbook, which I feel works really well for my sketch technique, but I have not figured out or located a good tool in it for inking.
Next I'll be trying out Manga Studio. I think it might have some better inking tools.
Please leave some feedback and some pointers. I need them.

This is probably the best description I have heard for some of these programs: a realistic art media simulator. That really does sum up what some of these programs do.
"Krita"... another program to add to my list to try.
I tried Sai, and I think one of the reasons it's popular is because it's a pretty straight forward and versatile program and it's easy to find and download a cracked version (so you can avoid paying for it - not really my deal and the current exchange rate lends to the program costing about $55 if you buy a proper license). Sai didn't really work for me - it just didn't feel very intuitive and I felt like I was smacking myself about halfway through everything I tried while I was trying the demo.

I've only had experience with Art Rage, which has an interface very similar to Sketchbook Pro. It's okay for inking but is mostly used for simulating 'realistic art media' like the way paint reacts and stuff. The program I see a lot of people use is Sai, but there's a very new and full featured beta art program called "Krita" that shows a great deal of promise and some people claim is better than Sai if a little buggy. Manga Studio is the weapon of choice if you publish comic books, and do a lot of black-and-white serial art.
