Illuminos comes in two forms, "Sentry" and "Hunter," and can switch to either from the other at its discretion. They are the residents of an alternate reality, where they guard the Crystal Idols (the thing in the cage of light). Rex or Rashada is sent to the alternate reality by the Old Woman to test their strength. Upon arrival, Rex/Rashada lose all of his/her powers and upgrades learned except for the innate 10. The goal is to obtain the Crystal Idol without getting caught. Upon successfully getting the idol, the Old Woman brings Rex/Rashada out of the alternate reality and back into the present. She will give them a special potion that restores vitality and energy.

"Sentry" carries a lantern and patrols the area looking for intruders. Upon spotting one, it will alert all nearby "Hunters" to remedy the problem. If none are present, "Sentry" will break its lantern and become engulfed in its flames, becoming "Hunter."

"Hunter" pursues any intruders and will recruit other "Hunters" should it meet any during the pursuit. Fighting it is not advisable as it cannot be defeated and the base 10 powers to little to effect it. If it catches the intruder, the test is failed and Rex/Rashada will have to start over. If they evade "Hunter" long enough, it will end its pursuit and transform back into "Sentry" (only if it transformed into "Hunter" beforehand).

Obtaining the idol requires first finding the key (guarded) and locating the cage the idol is kept in (also guarded). It is advised that a diversion be made to draw the Illuminos away from their post. Trials can be revisited--beaten trials will have friendly Illuminos and the reality can be explored further to find secrets.

This is the only enemy not created by Vaal in "The Spies."
