Okay another three days have past since I uploaded my previous bug ridden ActionScript 3 game.

I pretty much rebuilt the game from the ground up using the knowledge I got from my first two tutorial driven games and this is the result. I've worked out most of the bugs I believe, which means I can start adding new layers of gameplay on top of this engine, and more elaborate enemies.

The enemy this time around has an actual attack pattern, so there's one point during it's attack cycle in where you'll have a chance at landing a charged attack. It moves a bit slower and m ore predictability from the previous version. It's attack pattern is considerably more dangerous.

The intro sequence used here is something I created back in... I think 2003, so it's something I reused.

The main things to add in the next build will be:

  • Fully charged shots will pass through and destroy enemy bullets
  • Enemy charged shots can only be stopped by a charged shot in return
  • Weapon add ons for the enemy that can be shot at and destroyed individually
    Minor things to add:
  • Impact effects
  • UI improvements
  • Try to get the preloader to work more properly
