Commission. This is the Henge Trio, a group consisting of a Kitsune, a Tanuki, and a Bakeneko/Nekomata. I have a deep interest in Japanese culture and I created these characters years ago because of that interest. The problem was finding the right artist to evoke their Japanese roots. Well, the moment TeaKitsune was available, I asked her to draw them and she was happy to oblige. And now I can finally show them.

For those who don't know, Henge are a type of Yokai (the Fair Folk of Japan) that consist of shape-shifting animals. My three characters are a group who travel across Japan, plus a few other worlds, and get into adventures both silly and serious.

While each of the three's shapeshifting skills differ, all of them have three forms they can stay in for an unlimited amount time: Human, Animal, and Anthro. Their human forms are basically what they would look like if they were regular humans. Their animal forms are the forms they were born in and are used when traveling discreetly or when they are in the wild with nothing better to do. Their anthro forms (as shown in the drawing) are the characters' "default mode" so to speak and can change from animal to human size.

The characters all have backstories and personalities that I have developed throughout the years. Admittedly, they are not set in stone yet but I do have the basics down. Each of the three are covered in my Characters page. The female kitsune is Takama, the male tanuki is Katsu and the male bakeneko/nekomata is Isamu.
