This was also inspired by experience as a guard. Most nights I end up being by myself for the entire shift, just me a small shack and a dark site. Early in my career as a guard there was a week where I was doing 12 hour shifts back to back. I'd work alone, go home just in time to miss everyone when they went to work, sleep the majority of the day then wake up in time to go to work. During that stretch I didn't speak more than a handful of words a day.

I used to go through something similar when I was younger and first working night shifts or graveyards. I've become more outgoing in my "old" age so now even though my husband is away working, I still have a great core group of friends to give me human social time (they have fed me so much sushi this past month) But I remember what it would be like to do work, farm work, sleep, repeat and never say a word.

A little off topic but does Katie have a weasyl too?
