I tried my hand at making a pick guard today. It is harder than it seems like it should be. The place I ran into trouble with the router was on that lower sharp corner by the neck pocket. I also had an issue with the screws in the baseplate of the router tearing the hell out of the protective film. That is an issue because before final assembly, the pick guard is going to need to be handled a lot and that means that shit needs to be intact. The other issue I ran into was that while the double stick tape did fine holding the plastic to the template, it didn't do so well holding the template to the 2x6 I was using to elevate the piece above the work bench and so the template floated a little bit and made it very difficult to make the cut.

Anyway, I did it and now I can do better! It also gave me a chance to lay out the bridge that finally came in with the other parts to get an idea of what the finished product is going to look like.
