This is the highest quality piece of art I've ever gotten. I didn't really have any pics of Dracanius that really stood out to me, and I wanted to change that. To be honest the hardest part of this piece was coming up with the pose. I didn't want something mundane and "average' like you see in a lot of other art. I wanted it to seem as though I was paying a professional to paint a portrait of Drac. Well, Quirachen has been my friend and one of my favorite artists for years, and she stepped up to the plate when I told her all this. We threw ideas back and forth and I started liking the idea more and more as we exchanged words.

The pose she came up with was similar to this. I added the pillows and the candles. The pillows were just for effect, but the candles, to me, were to show off her spectacular lighting skills and to show the translucence of Drac's wing and frill membranes. She added the cape from an earlier piece that she did for me that had the concept for that in it. Usually I'd think a cape is gaudy or out of place, but the way she made it work in this picture is just amazing.

I don't think I would trust many other artists to pull it off, but she threw paint strokes down with confidence and went from concept to sketch to completed piece in a (combined) total of about a week. Judging from the size of the brush strokes when zoomed in, she put a LOT of work into this piece. Needless to say she got a very large tip.
