Lu is what remains of the parks older days of being an animal training location for films. When the state made it a wildlife park, one of the things it had to do was enclose only native animals to follow state laws. Well, Lu was the only one left and the locals did not want to see him go, so the governor made Lu an honorary Floridian thus making him a native animal.
