Surprise egg for Lunar Orchid over on FA!
i've never drawn a horse before!! so this was new haha. could still use messing around with tho, their facial foreshortening sure is something. Also, the first of the eggs to have the species be suggested, something i'd like to incorporate later on in other batches c:
for some reason FA seems to be chewing on the image (and not loading properly in general) so i'll stick this here first ahh

but thanks! i went ahead and practiced some horse heads from reference before i worked on the full body, i dont think i would have been comfortable just diving right in without any research haha ;v;
ohhhhhyeah i've seen that, i think it's probably because like, people try to translate them to something familiar such as a dogs face maybe-? thats about as close as i can guess, butyeah it seems like a pretty prevalent thing pfft

horse faces are so??? same with their legs oof, i still p much have to use fifty billion references at a time instead of like a couple for other animals ;o;
yeah, that might be it! i notice a lot of furry artists equate several animals to dog anatomy

For having never drawn a horse before, this is really good @-@ I would have assumed you had a lot of practice. Really cool design!

thanks! :> ohnoo, what i did was practice the head structure a bit before i did the full body ;;v;; the closest thing before that are like, goats/vague sheep-critters i've drawn, which arn't too far different but there are differences yanno?? so that may have helped too! haha

horses are such friggin mysteries but OOF for a first time drawing them this looks great dude! im super glad you kept the mouth short and actually horse-like too bc so many furry artists make their lips stretch to their eyes like????
