Let Your Leaves Fall and Return

Disidi

You can watch the (hilarious) painting process here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXgVLMTbYj0

Disidi is meant to be an avatar of peacefulness, mindfulness, inner strength, and good feelings. Sometimes it's easy to forget that since I'm naturally much more morose than what I wish I was like, so it's nice to do proper happy/relaxed Disidi art rather than solemn or weary Disidi art.

A stunning, yet tranquil piece through and through. The cool-to-warm lighting transition on Disidi is really eyecatching, and brings out her expression that much more. I especially enjoyed the process video, the music really compliments the thought behind it. "Let your leaves fall and return", and revisiting this painting many times throughout the year for a new perspective. Great stuff!

Check out that warm, bright glow contrasting those soft, cool shadows. It's interesting to know the themes your character is supposed to represent. I really like this rendition — it seems fairly suiting.

Thank you very much! I'm glad. It took me a long time to finally hammer it out, and who knows, I may revisit it again one day. Positivity doesn't come naturally to me, so I'm glad that I was able to represent it properly here; it's tricky!

Keep drawing it! Maybe it'll come more naturally in time.

Seeing this made my day. The soft colours and feel..

Thank you! I like this one too, though I've been surprised by the attention it's gotten. I'm not sure why it's engaging to people more than other pieces I do; people mention the colours a lot but they tend to be usual colours for me. :) I guess the peaceful mood is rare for me to draw.

I guess the overall feel and composition is really appealing. The mood is portrayed very well. :)
