My dearest friend, if you don't mind... by Dharken

My dearest friend, if you don't mind...

Dharken

....I'd like to join you by your side.

Every once in a while I get a little fan streak to me and depict Todd or Danielle or sometimes both as in this case as some of my favorite charcters. This one of Todd as Jack Skellington and Danielle as Sally is one of the better ones. The background on the original sketch was almost non-existant so in the cleaned up version, I went with a hybridized traditional meets digital approach to get the characters to stand out.

One of my favourite films too. I like the stitching work on Danielle.

The picture and the sentiment behind it are really beautiful. The original version of this is actually one of the first pieces of yours I remember seeing and identifying with you. The way you intertwined the sort-of starcrossed love from TNBC and Todd and Dani's own sort-of starcrossed relationship (in reference to what happened in the years following their separation in their late childhood and teen years) is really powerful. And when I first saw this image, I was unaware of what had happened to Danielle during those years, but knowing now about what she suffered makes her appearance as Sally all the more meaningful, with the visible stitches, etc.

All in all, it's a really touching idea, and you executed it masterfully. The background really adds to it, as well. The shapes and colors are reminiscent of the movie, but in digital colors like this it has a very representational element to it, as well, which to me shows that you're not just trying to slap Todd and Dani into the movie itself, but rather just.... flow alongside it, if that makes sense. Very well done, hon.

Hee, this is adorable! I like the way you've adapted Todd's skull to a simpler shape, in the way that Jack Skellington's skull was just a rounded ball rather than having a structure to it. Nice!
