Welcome to today's SOTD! For some reason I had trouble singing this song; I feel a tad light headed and I think my throat is dry but I'm not sure, it's really weird. Does it hurt? I couldn't tell, I think I'll go lay down and watch a movie till my fever passes.
For the non-Quebecois speakers out there, this song is about this woman called Maria who supposedly attracts bad luck to whoever marries her. Her first husband, a man who slept too much, choked on his pillow one night. She remarried right away with a depressive alcoholic, who was found hung from his horse's saddle. Third time's the charm so she remarried with a spoonmaker who got distracted and got molten tin in his ear. The fourth was a veterinary got sick and swallowed horse medicine instead of his own. The fifth was a priest who was praying and fell headfirst on his axe. The sixth was a clumsy shoemaker who stabbed himself with his awl. The seventh was a shady American redneck who tripped and impaled himself on his pitchfork.
If you talk a walk one night and hear a woman sobbing in the woods, keep your eyes down and pray 'cause that's how Maria gets her preys~
