Beaten Down by Deriaz

Beaten Down

Deriaz

A commission for toastedwheat of FA. Not even heroes can be super all the time.

I'll let this one speak for itself, as I think there's little more I can add in text. I was honored that Toasty wanted to trust me with something of this nature, and a thank you to him for allowing me to work with him.

I really like this one, out of many of your commissions. It may be because I am a superhero fan (my first comic was an old "Justice League of America" issue where they were fighting Starro the Conqueror when I was so tiny back in the 1980's) and it may be because I love to see realism brought to superhero life (the anime "Tiger & Bunny" did a good job of that). I honestly love the detail of the entire setting for this piece...........the room, the "trashed" portions...........the fur and the scuffs and stains. It's very realistic for 1) furry and 2) superhero--so I'll rate this one of my all-time favorites of your pieces. :)

Ah geeeeez, this is such high praise, though!! Thank you, keirajo~ <3 I admit I was head over heels when Toasty suggested this idea to me -- one of the reasons I like Spiderman so much is he feels relatable in a human way, despite being superhuman. I'm always a sucker for superheroes who can't always save the day or are at times extremely vulnerable. Really makes them feel more real. It's hard to explain. I guess I want someone super, not infallible!!

      Thank you again. <3!!

        You're most welcome! :D

I think the superhero who loses is such an underrated concept. But realistically.......sometimes the good guys just lose. Ironically there's a furry novel I bought at one of the years of FurCon that I went to.....which dealt with a concept like that. I think it was even called "Save the Day". I had a nice talk with the author at that 'con too. In the anime I mentioned, the main character's (Kotetsu/Wild Tiger) powers are in decline and sometimes they stop working in the worst of situations--but more than any other hero, he upholds the qualities of a hero most. Even when you lose.....you have to find the strength to keep going, true for us normal guys as well as super-powered peoples. :)
