Described most accurately as 'neoclassical thrash,' the album sold well and was critically acclaimed, despite the lack of airplay which characterized such efforts. The band were also distinctive in being taken seriously within a genre where female leads were generally dismissed as a novelty or as eye candy.

The twins held as a mission statement the taking back of heavy metal from 'hair metal' bands which had seen popularity in the mid 1980s; the success of their second effort seemed to see this reaching fruition, when the twins unexpectedly dropped out of sight again.
