Hyper Indoor Lacrosse League - ZEPHYR BAY BOOMERANGS

Well, here we are, the final team in the HILL, the franchise that led to the inspiration of this whole league and the world it takes place in, the Zephyr Bay Boomerangs! We have a set of new logos, a model of the Rangs mascot, "Ripper", and a few other details about this franchise.

Before the idea of the Zephyr Bay Boomerangs came up, a character that would be a player on the team formed in my imagination. Ideas of this character began in January 2013, while sketching out a kangaroo character originally given the temporary name, "ROOnegade". He began having a more simplier design, with some "bad-boy" details to boot. During that same month, I sketched out ideas for names and logos for a New England-based NLL team, if one were to return to the area (of course, we would get the New England Black Wolves in Connecticut later in 2015). Some of the concepts were treated as if a team were to actually come back, while others were "just for fun" concepts. One of those concepts not meant to be for an actual NLL team was the "Boston Boomerangs". Both the city name and and nickname begin with the letter 'B'. Boomerangs were also originally used as hunting weapons. It wasn't long before I tied together ROOnegade with the Boomerangs concept, leading to the creation of my box lacrosse playing kangaroo, Liam "The Barrage" Boxley, and the team he plays for, the Zephyr Bay Boomerangs. A more detailed story on the creation of Barrage for another time.

Now, about these logos, the primary one is an orange and brown boomerang in a green swooshing shape with a brown stroke. On the green swooshing shape, next to the boomerang, is "BOOMERANGS" in a brown, 90's-style scripted font, with an orange outline around it. (Several 90's aesthetics were influences in the process of designing these logos.) Siting above the swooshing shape is a green "ZEPHYR BAY". All this is surrounded by a thick orange stroke.

For the secondary logo, we have a green shield with beveled sides in orange, surrounded by a brown stroke around it. On the shield are the letters 'Z' and 'B' for "Zephyr Bay", with a lacrosse stick going through them. A boomerang is placed at the bottom of the shield, on top of the two bottom sides. The letters and boomerang are also beveled like the shield's sides.

The Boomerangs mascot is "Ripper", who wears both lacrosse apparel, and outback apparel (fedora, neckerchief, leather gloves).

The Boomerangs are a Warrior Conference team that play at the Happynectar Center. Happynectar is a beverage company, similar to Coca-Cola.

The name of the Zephyr Bay Boomerangs owner, Dudley Reffue, is a nod to former Boston Blazers President and General manager, Doug Reffue, who I became friends with during the time the Blazers were in Boston back from 2009 to 2011.
