The world's full of leeches. Positively packed with them. For a lot of us it's not a choice, not something we can change without a lot of help getting there. So we choose to do our best to become less of a leech, more helpful and better to others. We do what we can to produce something worthwhile as we continue to leech off others. We make our existence justified because, to some extent, everyone's expected to leech a bit here and there, and be leeched off of by others. The metaphor... kind of falls apart when you look at the bigger picture.

Now, I'm sure most of us don't want to be leeches, but at least we can be happy to be a good leech. There are so many others out there who waste the goodwill and help of others. So many who take that kindness and support for granted, treat those who make their existence possible like they don't matter at all. People who never learn to curb their awful spending habits even when they're down to someone else's last dollar. People with no remorse, who won't even recognize their own leechiness.

I believe in the power of every person to change the course of their life and to become a better person. Even the worst among us can turn our lives around, and the first step is... well, much like this comic shows, recognizing what you are to other people. But I think it's more than that. It's also good to keep in mind the positive impact you have, and what good you can do, even when it seems like so little.
