Dangerous Romance by Chakat Stripedfur

I don't want to close my eyes,
because I'm afraid you'll disappear.
I'm afraid that, when you go,
you'll take with you all that I hold dear.

I'm afraid you're just an illusion,
just an image to ward off the night.
And when I touch you, you'll break,
and shatter into shards of broken light.

So stay with me,
and let me know you're real.
Give me something I can touch,
something I can feel.

Because I'm afraid I'm going crazy,
afraid I'm going out of my mind.
Everytime you leave me,
everytime we say good-bye.

I don't know whether to tell you to leave,
that maybe it's better that way.
Or to give into my heart,
and beg you to stay.

It's tearing me apart,
knowing what you do.
Though I guess knowing what I am,
isn't any better for you.

I tried to forget you,
tried to make my heart forget.
But no matter how hard I try,
how hard I run,
I haven't succeeded yet.

The mere mention of your name makes my heart ache,
so what am I to do?
When every place I go,
every street I take,
only takes me back to you.

I love you,
and that's not easy for me to say.
Knowing what we do for a living,
knowing what we do day to day.

But I would risk the danger for that chance,
for a night with you I'd die a thousand times,
a thousand ways.
If it meant I could be with you,
could hold you in my arms for the rest of my days.

So why not risk it all,
why not take a chance?
Why not give into temptation,
and enjoy our dangerous romance?

This is the second poem I wrote for Rave Echidna, for a picture I got from her. I hope you enjoy!
