Of Guardians and Destinies by Celes

Night fell upon the Tower, one Guardian out of many gazed upon the glistening lights of the city below, the remaining precious jewel on Earth. The Guardian, an awoken Warlock who calls herself Celes, reflected upon the events of the last week while she took in the wondrous sight, surrounded by the wild darkness that had befallen this world.

It was a strange thought, knowing she had been dead for untold years until her new companion, an AI construct known as a Ghost, had searched out and revived her. From there, they traversed the ruins of Old Russia, fighting alongside fellow Guardians against the threat of the Fallen and the Hive. In their travels and battles, she could not help but something darker was looming upon the horizon, even after confronting the darkness within the Devil's Lair.

But still, there was something else lingering within her thoughts. At least, it was a much more pleasant thought, but she could not place what that might be. She held on to that thought for now. The darkness will wait for another day.

“Is there something wrong, Guardian?” Her Ghost materialized beside her, its small mechanical form floating just beside her as it looked upon the Warlock with a curious tone.

“I'm not quite sure, but it feels like there is something big on the horizon.”

“Assuming you're not referring to the Traveler, what do you mean?”

Celes smirked and gave the Ghost a sideways glance. “I cannot quite put my finger on it, but I sense a change approaching. Something that will help us against the darkness.”

“Change is a constant in the universe, there's no doubting that. At least you are keeping it positive.” The Ghost gave a slow nod as it floated around to her other side. “But I do sense there's something else bothering you.”

“For all the good this change may bring, will I be the same person then as I am now?” Celes gave a soft sigh as she leaned against the railing, watching as a few personal starships approach the docking bay. Guardians safely returning from another skirmish at the Crucible, from the looks of the banners the ships were flying.

“Guardian, as I said, change is a constant, even for people. I am certain it will be for the better, though. You will become stronger, ready to take on any dangers the darkness can throw at you.”

“I suppose you are right, thank you.”

“You're welcome. In the meantime, I'm getting some transmissions that some Guardians are asking for a little help. Care to show them how it's done before we start anew with our journey?”

The Warlock grinned, donning her helmet before adjusting her Hand Cannon pistol, eager and ready to head into battle. “Let's do it.”

Just a very brief scene that came to mind in the final hours of the Destiny Beta. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Beta, and I can't wait to get my paws on the full game~
