so when I say "Vaughn is the best out of all my OCs" this is kind of what I mean: I have learned completely new skills and art forms just for the sake of depicting him better over the years. this is actually a remake of my second-ever character sewing project from 2011, and Vaughn 2.0 is less of a plushie and more of an articulated doll. this was so much work y'all don't even know. easily as much as any fursuit I've made.

the body was sculpted in clay with reinforced wire joints. the whole thing was given a skin of fleece and faux fur, then painted with acrylic. made my own doll eyes, clothes, everything- literally the only thing I didn't craft from scratch was his shoes, those are just modified doll shoes, but otherwise I tried to spare no detail and his braces are as close to the real thing as I can make 'em at this scale. (those are oversized steel BBQ skewers I bent, drilled, and cut.) he's compatible with most 18" doll stuff, though he stands a little closer to 20" with the big ole ears. my only regret is that I didn't account for enough flexibility in the initial clay sculpt, I wish he was just a little more poseable, but that's the only way I could possibly be any happier with this right now. maybe in another 10-12 years I'll be insane enough to try a ball-jointed figure with hyper realistic needle felting?? who knows
