Acrylic painting © me
STORY TIME:
SO! I was pressured by my coworkers to try to see if I could sell a painting on our...."company-wide selling thingy". Sorta like a private company ...ebay? (I work for a very large hospital organization...)
It's usually (the bulletin board) mostly just full of people trying to sell pyramid schemes and the random puppy or old bike.
So..finally after being lovingly harassed I rolled my sleeves up and made this (the idea wasn't half mine- horsey part was mine, but american flag bit was suggested by everyone else because "marketable" and I went with it.
I posted it up, explained that this is a real painting, not a print. It's 16 x 20, I took 5-6 hours working on it, and the materials were about $8.
"!$15"
...
SO JUST WANNA SAY THAT I LOVE THE FURRY COMMUNITY because even though we get sooo much flack, ya'll know how to support your artists!
Bless you to bits!
::sends my love::
P.S. For peeps who work with acrylic normally- omg that is hard it dries so fast and you can't blend anything XD
The overall effect with the acrylics is dramatic, I love it! Especially with the stripes and how they create their own negative space on the neck and then extends into the whitespace on the background.
ohmygosh THANK YOU SO MUCH! ::bows deeply:: It was a strange decision and I'm glad it sounds like it turned out looking alright! I was using a pictures of mustangs for references but their manes are really short for the most part so I was trying to figure out how to fill up space to look more "flag-like" :D
For dry time extension, liquitex or golden sell a slow dry fluid and it makes a huge difference in workable time. : )

It's always a pleasure to see you working with traditional media. It seems to suit you well.
