Blind Date by BloodhoundOmega

Blind Date

BloodhoundOmega

This took me a bit longer than anticipated, since the partial background was upgraded to a full one. Also.. architecture… perspective… reflections… folds! AhhhHHHhhh! XD runs in circles

Anymoo, I am actually kind of… really happy how this turned out. :D It’s an illustration of Brôgon Ceannliath’s novel “Blind Date”, which is currently still in the progress of making.

Very nice, the background looks great.

There it is again, the stunning background! <3 The reflections have been a pain in the ... arm for sure :3 But it turns out really great! I'd love to see more Traditional streaming in near future (?) ^_^

The reflections were... tricky. It's an effect I rarely ever use so I was "I have no idea what I'm doing" most of the time. XD
I will try to at least stream bits and pieces of the remaining commissions until June. :) After that I'll have to see.

That background and the entire piece really, is precisely why you are such an inspiring artist to me. Your traditional coloring and rendering is second to none, at least in my book. Colored pencil primarily, correct?

Colour pencils and copic marker base. Gimme a sec... There, this was the piece in its base coloured state: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5168503/2015_blinddate_11.jpg

Oh that is just too neat! I've been toying around with Copic and Prismacolor markers with pencils for a long time now and haven't quite found my "zone" yet but the markers make layering the pencils less of a chore that's for sure, especially when using Copics.

I am still testing and playing around, too. It also depends a lot on the paper. The one I used for this, for example, was very ... "thirsty", which led to mild bleeding whenever I drew a line. That was very unnerving and scary sometimes. X__x I decided for this mainly because I had several larger areas in the piece that I couldn't layer with textures later on (the frames of the windows, the door etc.). Basecolouring them with pencils allowed for a smoother surface for those bits aaaand the colours turned out nicer and richer than with just pencils. ^^

Heh! utters a satisfied deep Charr purrr ^^
