Due to eggs being stored in a communal hatchery, young dragons are rarely raised by a direct relative. Often when a dragon submits an egg to a hatchery they are screened for a compatible youngling that is interested in a field within the same guild. If a youngling is unhappy with the match, they can wait for another pairing or search for a mentor themselves. 

Vharri, not happy with potentially being separated from her nest mate, went out searching for two mentors that would allow them to stay together. In one of her group trips to a barracks she comes across a single dreamweaver that is actually stationed with a valorguard. Taking the chance to go right up to him and wake him up.
Getting the attention of his partner, both giving her a chance to state what she wanted.
