SECRET SURPRISE LAUNCH HAAAAAAAAAAAA~

You wouldn't believe this was a class project but that's what you get when you have a really open-ended design class, eh?

This piece of awesome was originally an idea I had for the coolest con badge ever, but I quickly realized this was going to be WAY too bulky to be strung around my neck at a con.

What it is: Using the laser cutter on campus (which is sadly for class projects only so in the future I'm stuck looking for other options) I engraved and cut into some 1/4" plywood. Underneath, I cut and mounted a sanded-down piece of clear acrylic, and made a housing for some electronic components behind that. I have a RGB (just using the green and blue portions) and green LED hooked up to a 9 volt with a power switch between them.

So... I'm not normally a shop kinda guy. Or a physical stuff-maker. But this was pretty cool to do, if quite unnerving working with LEDs and resistors and soldering for my first time. Note: if you're soldering for your first time, don't do it on a RGB SMD LED. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to even try to do what I did BUT I SHOWED THEM~

So... for a con badge version I'm thinking of using chip board or some other, thinner material and something else as backing. Something sadly less glowy and fantastic, but actually... y'know, WEARABLE.

But... if someone can help me find a decent place that can engrave and laser cut chipboard or really thin wood, I would be open to doing commissions for something like this. ^^ (just without the glowy part)
