A friend requested I draw a Drifloon, so I did.

This was a bit of experimentation with sai's Crayon brush and a cotton texture pattern; I was trying to go for a more "children's drawing" look. I had a lot of fun with it; took me about 30-45 minutes.

The crayon brush is fun. Question: When you draw lines, do you use quick strokes or do you slowly trace over a sketch?

Usually I trace over a sketch or work from an outline; I don't tend to start on the lines. For this one I actually didn't intend on going beyond just the sketch since it was just a doodle for a friend; I hadn't upped the stabilizer on my Sai or anything. I tend to use purple as my sketching color so that's why the outline of the drifloon is in purple.

Gotcha. Using a sketch as a base is good. When you're lining over that though, it's best when you're to make quick, long strokes, like you would when sketching. It's hard to do if you're not used to it (I still have trouble with this) but it will result in more fluidity in your drawing.

Thank you very much for the advice; next time I do something with linework, I will definitely keep this in mind and try to make sure I do it. <3
