...and girls...

Looks like Alex has swapped the dark-green of her police uniform for a green uniform of a somewhat different kind!

Alex is smart but not particularly imaginative so she tends to stick with what she knows, though the ability to conjur a fully working assault-rifle from thin air is enough to give almost anyone pause and she's perfectly willing to ramp up the firepower if circumstances call for it. Like the ex-Marine John Stewart she adheres to the KISS principle and she rarely makes complicated and time-consuming constructs as simple and straighforward ones usually suffice, she has exceptional reflexes and thinks quickly so unlike most other Green Lanterns her constructs tend to snap into existence fully formed rather than gradually building up. She also uses her Ring as a database and research tool, preferring to go into battle with at least some sort of plan and aware of what she's up against.

As something of a loner she tends to mostly operate by herself but the other Lanterns know she has their back if backup is necessary.

A fun and totally non-canon pic but having seen other GL-themed pics by Zerwolf on FA I just had to have one, and needless to say I wasn't disappointed! Go check them out! :)

On a further note I'm not really into comics and my exposure to them is mostly through cultural osmosis and the old Justice League cartoon, my favourite characters in that were always John Stewart, The Flash and Hawkgirl and their interactions together. I was so disappointed that John and Shayera never got together but her betrayal was one of the more moving parts of the series.

I've also always liked the concept of the Green Lanterns in general, what are they but an intergalactic police force, and unlike most of the other characters in the DC universe they aren't nigh-on invincible demigods or superbeings (I typed superberings there initially!) but ordinary people entrusted with extraordinary powers and capabilities, they are only mortal, they can get hurt and they can get killed in the course of their duty and the series showed that happening.

In addition the Green Lantern movie in my opinion isn't nearly as bad as people say, though it is a bit underwhelming it certainly has its moments. I get the feeling the producers threw far too much into it in the fear that they wouldn't get a chance to make a sequel but unfortunately the resultant mess of a story has probably made that into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan was fun but for me the only real Green Lantern is and always will be John Stewart (though I'm sure Alex could give him a run for his money!) ;)
