D-I-E (Prologue) by Bartan

D-I-E (Prologue)

Bartan

I feel like this happens to me every few years or so. I play a game I get into, start seeing a story behind the experiences, things begin to piece together and won't leave my brain until I throw it out onto digital paper. It happened with Somewhere Out There (Angels With Scaly Wings, and that one actually took off), Blind Lane (kinda, GW2), Crownless (Armello), Come With Me To The Otherside (Biomutant), and now D-I-E; Palworld.

The thing about these kinds of... Fanfiction, I suppose, is that they almost NEVER take off in terms of interest. I'll spend Months writing the first act/entire story, somewhere between 60 and 140 pages, with plans to keep going- only for it to swim like a rock in terms of public interest. Leaving me feeling like I wasted several months and a looooot of energy trying to make something work.

I'm doing things a tad differently with D-I-E, because I suspect the same exact thing to happen. I'm making the prologue as short as I can- sorry if things feel a little fast/don't give a whole lot of time for feels. Just to see if things will stick. That way I've only wasted a few hours vs weeks of work. If it catches on? Great. If it doesn't, not as big of a loss as the previous ones.

What this story will consist of? I've got a few ideas so far, but nothing set in stone- but I imagine the big question is "Will there be Pal Sex?" I donno. Maybe if there's interest, maybe not. I haven't decided yet. For now, the plan was to just throw something against the wall to A: satisfy the goblin in my brain and B: just to see if there's any interest... And not to specifically "Jump On The Bandwagon" that is Palworld. I honestly really do enjoy the game

But let me know what you guys think, whether this is an interesting startup or just a waste of time. Until then, I've got some things to do.
