The Costume Curse (See Description)

BadRoy

A concept that I'm very happy to unveil!

Spellslinger Sal - I'm proud of you Irza. And finally? What is the last of the four outlawed spells?

Irza - Well after the Enlarging Ray there is--er. Sorry Master...”

SS - Oh! You came so close my girl! Body Duoble.

Irza - Gah of course. 'Body Double.' More commonly knows as 'The Costume Curse'.

SS - You must be mindful of this spell most of all. There are whisperings lately of its re emgergence. Gods do I pray they are false. What does this curse do? Explain it to me.

Irza - Lets see. At a cost of very severe rot corruption the caster is able to summon a magical uh, costume in their own image. The costume appears in six parts. The head, the torso, two arms, and two legs. These can all float freely and move of their own accord.”

SS - Very good. Keep going.

Irza - The parts of the costume coordinate to capture their intended target. All available data suggest that the victim must be present when the spell is cast. Otherwise the costume will appear before falling inert and losing its magical properties. When summoned the pieces will force themselves onto the victim and when they are firmly attached they, uh, transform to become the victim's flesh and blood. They lose control of these areas meaning that as soon as one piece is attached the victim is certain to fall prey to the others.

SS – And what's more, you were absent when we discussed this, the material of the costume is synthetic in composition and is very stretchy. It can accommodate the size of any victim and we know this because one of the first known victims was a bear, the caster a small rabbit. The transformation only occurs when the costumed area connects with another. The bear's leg for example would be merely stuffed in the costume leg until the rim of the leg joined with the torso. As soon as it is transformed it is unremovable and is essentially a part of the victim.

Irza – Sorry, I wasn't aware. The final result of the curse is a perfect body double of the caster with the victim trapped inside unable to move and unable to be heard due to a muting effect of the magic. Worst of all the Body Double will unerringly follow the whims of the original.

SS - No my dear the worst factor of all is that there is, to our knowledge, no way of freeing a victim aside from coercing the caster to dispell it themselves.

Irza - Hehe, right. I hope the guards get their paws on the spells before some truly vile character puts them to use.

SS - Bah! You want the king to get ahold of them?!

Irza - Gosh you're right. That would be awful.

SS - The only acceptable recourse is to destroy the cards themselves. The Costume Curse would be a fate worse than death. Forced to live out your days as a clone of soemone else. Just imagine...
