Hi all, This is summer, she is a Cactiriad, a native species of mobile cactus that is often found in desserts, they use their claws to dig into the sand and station themselves to both photosynthesise, and to lay dormant to capture prey. they use the scent of their small flower to lure in insects for pollination and nutrition, their spines protect them from any parasites and small animals looking to eat them. these spines are barbed and easily detatch from the Cactiriad allowing them to bury themselves further into the sand to hide, they often choose not to run away as they may end up getting jabbed by their own spines as they are running away, additionally they cannot move very quickly (at about the same pace as a sloth) Summer in particular here was found as a sprout nearby one of the intake ventilation shafts of the facility. she was taken in as to better accommodate the conditions she prefers. She cannot speak, but instead uses body language to communicate her feelings toward others. she often wears the sheet of paper over her face as to seemingly make herself appear less threatening to the other members of the facility, or she could be incredibly insecure about herself. without verble communication its hard to tell...
