Ocelot Falls by Autumnfire

Ocelot Falls

Autumnfire

I was itching to do some watercolour practice and this kinda came out. I am not sure of the story here, so you can make up your own for it. I have never drawn an Ocelot before so this was my first try. I think it turned out alright. The anatomy isn't too bad, though I think the arm balance is off.

So really just practicing layers and shapes with the watercolours as well as some different sort of lighting on the ocelot. The background is a little too plain

9" by 12" watercolour, coloured pencil and acrylics on vellum surface paper.

I'd have to disagree there. I think the vagueness of the background draws attention to the detailing you've put into the character. If the background was more detailed, the piece might become too busy with all her spots and lovely detail, and the eye wouldn't know where to look. Just my opinion :)

The waterfall there is subtle. Because the title didn't really match with what I thought was there, however it did make sense after spotting the waterfall. It would have over powered the view of the ocelot if it was done to a fine detail.
