So why the sudden revival of Tessera? This is why. I've finally got the time and energy I need to make this game a reality. Everything you see here is my own work, even the font. It's obviously taking a lot of inspiration from 80s CRPGs like Ultima and various roguelikes, but it's doing its own thing in its own world.
I'll be posting more screenshots as I make progress. Right now the engine is still pretty bare-bones - doesn't even have items or equipment at all, let alone combat or talking to people. But you can walk around and go from map to map, and watch animated sprites moving around. Hiding tiles you wouldn't be able to see was just added today.
Oh, and if you're curious, this is being written entirely in Python, using Pygame.
